2Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.
-People try to make religion something that it isn't. They make rules and commands in order to create a righteousness. We need to watch out for those things.
3For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
-The circumcised people worshiped by the spirit of God. Even though there was a physical sign, the people worship in spirit. They don't put confidence in their outward signs, but in Jesus. The signs and things they do don't make them saved, but it is Jesus who saves them.
4though I myself have reasons for such confidence.
-Paul has many reasons to think he could be religious. These are nice to have, but it doesn't make anybody anything in the eyes of God. Real status is thru the true worship of God.
-It all reminds me of the verse that says man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
