Saturday, October 4- 3 John 1-4

1The elder,
To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
-Interesting that this is kind of a personal letter, but still in the Bible. Wonder who this dude was cause his name isn't that common.

2Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
-Very seemingly common request for others. Very nice wishes thought.

3It gave me great joy to have some brothers come and tell about your faithfulness to the truth and how you continue to walk in the truth.
-It is encouraging to hear about others. Stories of faith are always nice. Of course the flip side is very sad when people walk away. It's always nice to see people walking in faith after they leave college. We should continue to walk in faith so that others can hear about us and so that we can talk about others.

4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
-This is true for me to. Its great to hear people walking faithfully. It's not an easy walk, but Christ works in us, and we need to work to make it. :)

Gaius was a pretty common Roman name back in the day.
