John 8:1-11

In this passage Jesus was teaching at the temple when the pharisees and teachers brought a woman caught in adultery to him. They tried to trap him. He tells the people that whoever hasn't sined to stone her first. They walk away slowly. At the end he talks with the woman. He tells her that he doesn't condemn her and tells her to leave her life of sin.

From this passage I can learn to have compassion and give grace as Christ does. It's not easy to be put in that position, but knowing our own situation helps us when we are judging others. In no way was what the woman did right, but hopefully this woman would repent of her way of life and live differently. I suppose it would be the worst case scenario if the woman just thought she got away with something. I guess we end up in that situation many times where we sin and we know we did wrong but we're not judged immediately by God. The lesson we're supposed to learn is go and sin no more, but many times we go and sin more. Jesus gives that woman and us a chance to choose repentance or more sin. Hopefully next time we can choose repentance and know the price of it.
