John 11:1-15

In this passage Lazarus gets sick. Lazarus was related to mary and martha. The sisters were the ones who sent word to Jesus. Apparently they had developed a strong enough relationship with Jesus to be able to send word to him. Jesus knows the situation. He does things patiently knowing that it is to glorify God. He waits a few days then goes to see him. He tells the disciples that Lazarus had fallen asleep. They are confused by it but Jesus tells them he is dead.

From this passage I can learn that God has everything in his control. Even life and death. It's unfortunate for us that theses circumstances happen but we can trust God that he'll use it for his glory. We should call on Jesus as mary and martha did. Our prayers might not get answered like theirs did, but we can be sure Jesus hears us. It's neat to see that even Jesus is filled with compassion where he probably would've healed Lazarus on the spot if he had been there. I wonder if he says fallen asleep because he can't bear the thought of Lazarus being dead. Either way we need to keep trusting God and coming to him with our cares and concerns.
