9Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.
-Light vs dark. This is a very clear determinant of who is christian and who isn't. Love is so important in God's book because he is love.
10Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.
-Love is the supreme ethic about which everything stands of falls. We must love if we are to call ourselves Christians. Love is so powerful in our walk to help us stand.
11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
-The opposite of loving is blindness. People who walk around hateful are lost and do not understand the love they have received from Christ. Nor do they understand how to give what Christ has given. Love is so so so important to strive for.
