Wednesday, Sept 23- 1John 5:13-15

13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
-John is very specific in why he's doing what he does. The reason is so that we can know for sure that we have eternal life. No doubts.

14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
-This is a nice confidence to have, although many would probably still doubt. According to his will is the key. The response is that he hears us, not that he does everything we ask. Although if it is according to his will there's probably a much better chance than if it was by our will.

15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
-If our wills are the same we are usually in good shape. Sometimes we think our will is His will just because we think something is good or its the way it should be. God's will is bigger than ours. Things might not go the way we want it, but He has larger plans than us. It's hard to live in this sometimes, but this is where we must have faith in who He is and trust.
