18I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
-This is a pretty big statement. We complain so much about the suffering we deal with here on earth, but we must realize that the coming glory in the end will be ridiculous. Not even comparable. You put them side by side and its like a pea to basketball.
19The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
-Why creation waits is in the next verse. But it is curious about who will be revealed on that day.
20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
-Frustration was by sin. When sin entered the world it messed up a lot more than just Adam. When the end comes the universe will no longer be corrupted by sin.
-We always think that sin is just us, but it can have far reaching effects beyond us. We need to realize this and not think so selfishly.
22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
-It's a painful time for creation, but almost upon a blessing time. The time of the kingdom of God is near.
23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
-So the world awaits, but we also should wait expectantly. When we finally are adopted, redemption will finally be complete and ours.
24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?
-This is how hope works. Hope is for something we don't have. When we have it hope disappears. Hope in God is something that we should carry. We don't need to have it yet to hope for it.
25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
-So lie down any arrogance or rashness, hold onto patience. This is a key to hope, patience.
