28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty."
-So much work to fulfill prophecy, but it is so important to prove who he is. So much of what Jesus did in life was to fulfill prophecy. To constantly prove and verify who he was. Even as he dies on the cross in so much pain and suffering he's fulfilling scripture.
29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
-What a way to finish his life. With a drink, prophecy is done, then he can die. The Bible is so technical like that in how things must happen. His life was lived for a purpose that he must fulfill. When he does fulfill then he knows his life is done for the time being.
-Jesus had such a bizarre finish to a crazy life. He gave up everything to fulfill the purposes of God. He trusted him completely even in the most difficult times. Nothing was easy for him, yet he endured till the end. It's a big lesson in faithfulness for us. To trust in God till the end.
