26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
-Same way: in the same earnestness and desire for heaven to come. As our spirits yearn for heaven, so the Spirit yearns for more as well.
-I've been in so many situations in life where I don't' know what to do. Good to know that there's someone that does. It's something to be grateful for that God cares about us so much. Interceding is difficult work. Nobody ever gets credit for it. When your speaking in groans it usually is in some utter desperation. God is really for us.
27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
-God searches our hearts. He knows what the spirit is talking about even though its only groans. The Spirit doesn't intercede for us based on what we want necessarily, but on God's will. On what God knows we need.
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
-Do I know this? That God works for my good because I love him. What amazing God that he works for us. He doesn't have to work for us. We are so inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. We are dust of the earth, but He loves us for some strange reason.
-Are calling isn't without purpose. What is our purpose?
29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
-God knows who is to be saved. Those being saved he makes like Jesus. What an exciting prospect to be made more and more like God.
30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
-Progression of events to our glorification.
-Predestined- to know and choose before hand to be something or do something
-Called- assign a position to
-Justified- to be made legally right
-glorified- to be lifted up to a high position.
-This is the plan God has for us as his chosen people. It's almost unimaginable to understand how such lowly people can be brought so high. This is all part of amazing grace and an amazing love that we can't quite hope to understand, but we can accept. Now all we have to do is be faithful to the purpose for which we've been called.
