9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
-What controls us is not sinfulness or the body, but the spirit of God. Of course, this is contingent upon the fact that we have accepted Christ and the spirit is actually in us. Without the spirit we are not part of Christ.
10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
-when we accept christ as our savior, we die with him so our body is dead. In dying with him, we also live with him in his resurrection. We are born again in spirit.
11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
-The same power that rose Christ from the dead is now in us. When we die, we will live because of his spirit in us. Without the spirit in us, we will die.
-Seems like this says the same thing over and over again to make sure we get the point. With Christ we live, without him we die. It's an amazing gift to have the spirit which gives us the power of resurrection. To think the spirit lives in us is an impossible thing thing to have happen, but it is true. Thank you.
