Monday, April 13- Romans 6:8-14

8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
-It's probably good to connect these two. I'd suppose some people do the work of dying without thinking about what living with him really means. It's really a focus and a prize that we should think about more often. The more heavenly minded we are, the less focus we'll put on the world and its securities.

9For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
-This is something we hopefully actually know. Christ is alive and he's not going back to the grave. We can put our full hope in Christ knowing he's always going to be there.

10The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
-The death was for sin, the life he lives is for God. Two separate things for two different reasons.

11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
-We follow the same example. die, but live for God.

12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
-Don't let sin reside in your body/mind. If you do you will become a slave to it. It's not hard to figure this out, but it is hard to live without sometimes.

13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.
-We become slaves by offering out body to the different things. There's a battle going on for our lives. We must offer ourselves, give ourselves, conscientiously make an effort to do it.

14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
-If we want to replace sin as our master we must learn to give ourselves to him. Grace is the key word here. We are under grace, that's much better than being under anything else.
