Friday, April 3- Romans 5:15-17

15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
-Salvation is different from original sin. The price for sin was death for many. The grace of God is given to many and is more powerful than the sin, in that it can cleanse sin.

16Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
-Again keying in on the fact that the gift and original sin are different. Sin leads to condemnation and death. The gift of Christ brings a legal change from sinner to free.

17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
-This is very much just a comparison of Adam vs Jesus who is the new Adam. But the new Adam is greater than the old. This same idea is repeated here over and over. I guess the point needs to be clear that there is punishment for Adams sin, but Jesus' act can supersede what Adam had originally done. Thank goodness we can have redemption from our sin. God is really gracious in this.
