1For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.
-Reminders of the past. The past informs us of the present and what may happen in the future. Sometimes we forget the past to easily. That makes us dumb. We know even from our past mistakes what consequences we face.
2They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
-They were all part of moses's crew.
3They all ate the same spiritual food 4and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
-As much as things were physical for them there was a spiritual aspect from it all. Christ was represented in all those things they were doing.
5Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.
-This is an example of people who didn't go into strict training. They had all the resources but never made anything out of it. There are lots of people like this in the church. They have all the resources but never do anything. The result of this will be death. What a sad way to die. So close to life but missing the whole thing. :'(
