Sunday, December 13- 1 Corin 10:18-22

18Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
-Israel was trying to live two ways. One with God and one with idols.

19Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
-The food from the sacrifice to idols means nothing because an idol is nothing, but when you associate with this type of things you inherently put yourself together with them.

20No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.
-He wants us to have nothing to do with demons. Likewise in our lives we might not be actively participating in sin, but our association with sin could still be bad.

21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.
-Can't live both lives. They are contrary to one another. It has to be one or the other, not both.

22Are we trying to arouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
-Our God is a jealous God. Jealous for our affections. And this is rightly so. He gave everything for us and he deserves our undying love. When we play with sinful things we must realize that we're hurting God. We need to be aware and careful of this because our relationship with God is one we should do our best to protect.
