Tuesday, December 2- 1 Corinthians 8:9-13

9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
-This is the danger of freedom. Conscience is so important not to violate. It can mean the difference between sin and not sin.

10For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols?
-It's kind of a funny thing like that. Your influence could ruin the weaker person.

11So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.
-Destroyed is a strong term. Guess there's room for education in the matter, but people still need to be sensitive to others and being humble in their freedom. Again we also have to be careful that we're not sinning in careless freedom.

12When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
-Big consequence for our actions.

13Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall.
-Strong position to help our brothers grow. Our care and concern for their spiritual growth is that important that we could abandon our own pleasure. It's hard to live this out sometimes because we are so selfish, but we need to think about others needs not just our own.
