27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
-This is something that shouldn't be taken lightly. It's not simply something you do but it represents something important. Defacing symbols is a bad thing.
28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
-Step one to communion is to examine one's self. This service shouldn't just be done but without the right heart it can be offensive to God.
29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
-This is why communion is only for the believers. But this should be at the heart of what we consider when we examine ourselves. Are we recognizing this?
30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
-Interesting verse. How far does God's judgment go on the Lord's supper?
31But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment.
32When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.
-Judgment isn't the end, but the end goal is discipline so that we'll grow. At least that's comforting.
