Thursday, December 10- 1 Corin 10:6-10

6Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.
-the past was a lesson to us. Their problem was that they were set on evil things. It's easy to let evil things creep into our lives. Sometimes we call them alright things, but really they are evil.

7Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry."
-Don't let things consume us. When we do that it becomes worship of other things.

8We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.
-Thats a lot of dead people.

9We should not test the Lord, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes.
-Test. Pride is what killed them.

10And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.
-Grumble. What a sad thing to die for.
-Basically their folly comes from wanting things selfishly that they could not give up. We must evaluate carefully things in our lives that might consume us and create bondage in our lives. If we're not careful we might just let those things go that will kill us. Thousands of people who were probably smart enough to know failed to know because they were blind. It would be foolish of us to think that we're not as susceptible to these things as thousands of others were. Watch and pray.
