Tuesday, November 17- 1 Corin 7:1-7

-Its amazing how even though I do just a few verses every day it feels like I still get to move thru books pretty quick.

1Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.
-Everything up to this point was pauls concern for them. Now this is stuff that the corinthians actually wanted to know. Wonder if thier question was: "whats better to marry or not to?" or was it something else? Regardless the answer was that its a good thing if someone doesn't get married.

2But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.
-Prevention of immorality is a good reason to get married. Suppose it just means that there is a desire built in that person that should be relieved by his or her own spouse.

3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
-I'm guessing this is talking about sex. hehehe.

4The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
-They become one flesh. Neither can be selfish with physical needs because they both belong to each other. Both have needs and those needs should be fulfilled by the other.

5Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
-Depriviation shouldn't happen unless both agree. Deprivation is an area that Satan can use to cause one to fall. If there is a need built up in one then the spouse should fulfill it so there isn't immorality.
-To much sex can interrupt your time with God. It's good for a break so that they can pray. hehehe.

6I say this as a concession, not as a command. 7I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
-Not everyone is built for celibacy. But some are. If this is the case then it is a gift so that they can devote their lives to God.
