4So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one.
-Explanation of idols...an idol isn't really anything except for a block of wood or something else. Even though its a religious symbol for someone else it has no power.
5For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"),
-The gods they worship are just so-called...not real in any sense. Just made up by man. Realizing this takes power away from them because we recognize that the only god with power is our God.
6yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
-One God the father, and one God the Christ. We realize that this is the real God. There are no others. Spiritually then we have nothing to fear.
