Saturday, November 21- 1 Corin 7:17-24

17Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.
-Assigned means that God put them there. We should do the best we can to honor God no matter what situation we're in. This isn't a relative thing, but wisdom for all.

18Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised. 19Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.
-Pauls point illustrated thru circumcision. Things matter, but don't matter. What's at the heart of it all is obedience to God.

20Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.
-Again the same command. Remain, persevere, and fight the battle assigned to you.

21Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so.
-Wisdom again. Don't stay in suffering if you don't have to. But if you're stuck there for the time being...do your best to honor the Lord.

22For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave. 23You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. 24Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.
-Think of your situation before God, then think about your situation before man.
-This is all mostly tough advice. Staying in tough situations isn't easy. especially when it can make your life miserable. Regardless, We have to act in good Christian ways to honor God as much as possible thru our decsions.
