In this passage Jesus appears to the disciples. It was a rather miraculous appearance because he appeared behind their locked doors. I don't know what I'd think if this happened to me. Guess there would be fear mixed with awe. Jesus then gives them the Holy Spirit by breathing on them. Even more amazing is that he gives the ability to forgive sins to the disciples. Why that was the first thing given them after the Holy Spirit was given, who knows?
Thomas wasn't with them at the time so when the others told him about it he was doubting it. I would probably be in the same place as Thomas. He saw Jesus die, people don't normally come back to life. A week later a similar thing happened where Jesus came behind locked doors and appeared to them. He showed himself to Thomas and then he believed. Jesus gives more blessing to those who believe and don't see him. That would be us.
In John Jesus does many great things but these are the things listed. Jesus was much more amazing than can be put on paper. It would've been amazing to live with him. We're lucky though because we have all of scripture to read. The disciples and people of the day are probably jealous of us because we get to see the whole thing. So I suppose in the end its just perspective about who's luckier. Jesus is beyond this world. We have to trust that and that He loves us. We can see amazing things if we believe.
