John 16:1-11

In this passage Jesus is explaining things to the disciples so they won't fall away. He gives them news prophetically so they can be comforted in knowing that it was all planned. Jesus then explains that he's going away and the Holy Spirit will come. One of the Holy Spirits jobs is to convict the world of guilt.

From this passage I can learn that difficult times come and are sometimes the plan of God. He tells us in scripture that we will suffer so we should come to expect it at times. But we should also know that God is in control of that suffering and that he has a plan for it all. We could crash and burn if we didn't have faith that God was in control, but now that we know we should take comfort and act accordingly. It's not easy, but we can trust in God. I can also learn that the Holy Spirit has a purpose. I never really thought of his job to convict of guilt. That is something that we can look to God to do in the hearts of people. Conviction is the beginning of change. Glad that's not our responsibility to some degree.
