In this passage Jesus was dead. He didn't have any bones broken by the guards because he was already dead. Instead the soldiers pierced his sides. From this water came. Even in death Jesus fulfilled prophecies. Joseph and Nicodemus then go and prepare Jesus for burial in a tomb.
From this passage I can learn that Jesus, even in death, fulfilled prophecies. It was important to list these events to show that all these things were still under his plan. It's neat to see the 2 men working behind the scenes after all was done. Joseph doesn't have much mentioned about him at all but he does this thing for Christ. Nicodemus who doubted and was confused by Jesus eventually came to believe in him. It's really neat to see him come around even with all the social pressure on him. Even in death Jesus was amazing. Transforming people's lives.
