In this passage Jesus is before Pilate. Thew jews brought him to pilate because they didn't have the power to execute someone. Pilate questioned Jesus but didn't see a grounds to execute him. The crowds insisted and even asked for Barabas to be released to them instead of Jesus.
From this passage I can learn that people aren't always that bright. Crowd mentality is an amazing thing. It's weird that masses of people can be manipulated so easily, but I guess that is something to watch out for in our own lives. The truth is sometimes harder to arrive at then it seems.
