Luke 3:7-14

IN this passage John the baptist preaches repentance. More specifically bearing fruit in accord with the repentance the people claim. The people stood behind abraham and thought that made them "special" but John warns them that they aren't that special. God can raise up his people out of the stones. Not that that is the plan, but God gives them opportunity to really be his, but they have to be real about it. Judgment is near. Whether it comes by death or by Christs return it is close enough for us to be mindful of it. This is very relevant for us and for all time. There are plenty of people who repent, few who actually bear fruit because of it. The crowd asks how they can live. John gives practical answers. To each of us we should ask ourselves similar questions and live according to what the word of God says. It's not easy but God will help.
