This passage talks about spiritual disciplining. We should accept it for what it is. We're not little children who don't understand. We do stupid stuff so we need to be disciplined. It's hard to be thankful for difficult things, but in the end it's good for us. God does it to train us into righteousness. That sounds good to me. The child that isn't disciplined seems like he has cool parents when everyone is a kid, but as that child grows reckless we can see the error of the parents ways. God doesn't make that mistake.
This passage also encourages us to have good relationships with people. We should put a lot of effort into this. I don't know why human nature causes us to fight so much. I wish we could all just settle down. People are crazy. We have to learn to get along for the sake of holiness.
