20 Listen to advice and accept instruction,
and in the end you will be wise.
-This is the instruction to get wise. Listen and accept. One with out the other isn't wisdom.
21 Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.
-Esther and I have plans. Hopefully they are part of God's purpose. But this is really something to think about. We do all kinds of thing outside of God's purpose. Or at least try to. We think we're so wise in our own lives but really God is in control. As much planning as we do we can't escape God. If you can't beat him might as well plan to join him.
27 Stop listening to instruction, my son,
and you will stray from the words of knowledge.
-This is like verse 20. If you don't do the listening you'll be in trouble. Trouble is bad.
