In this passage God whittles down Gideons forces. He says there are to many men. God wants this victory to be his. Just in case Gideon is still scared he tells him to go down to the camp of the enemy. As he does he hears how fearful they are of him.
-From this passage I can learn that faith is important. Also God doesn't leave us empty handed. Faith is important because God wants us to know that He is in control and He wins the battles. Our own power or pride gets in the way sometimes. Even when we're put in difficult situations God doesn't leave us high and dry. He knows our heart and gives us strength as we need.
