1-2) The Psalm begins with the writer telling the people to listen and that he will speak in parables. Some of these things will be hidden or maybe secret things. Regardless this should peak the interest of the listener to learn new things.
3-6) They should pass knowledge of how great God is to their children so they will know.
7-8) By doing this then they will learn to trust God. They would learn to obey God and not turn from him. This is an important task of any parent.
9-16) Men of Ephraim failed in this task and even though they were physically strong they forgot God. They forgot all the amazing things he did for Israel as they left Egypt. This is sad that they have access to such a wonderful God but fail to recognize him or praise him.
-I can apply this to my life by remembering the awesome things that God has done throughout history and my life. Maybe ask others what God has done in their lives to remember God. Also to teach my children one day. But in the current day maybe just share with friends to remind them what God has done.
