Wednesday, March 18- Romans 2: 12-16

12All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
-So people who don't know the law will perish because of it. And those who know the law will be judged by it. Seems reasonable enough in some ways. I'd imagine just perishing would be better than being negatively judged.

13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
-Obedience is the key word. There are many who hear or know the law or things in the law, but obedience is what is important. And it makes sense that it would be.

14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law,
-So in some ways people without the law can have the law just by doing natural things or common sense things.

15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.)
-The law in some ways are built in to people on their hearts. There seem to be some moral universals born into people. The conscience proves to be important here in judging peoples hearts as well. I wonder what the pure conscience is like before it is corrupted or suppressed by people.

16This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
-All the secrets will be laid bare. Jesus will be the judge. It's clear again that there is an end that is coming and that judgment will take place. We should be careful how we live and live in such a way that we get the prize.
-It's easy to forget about the kingdom of heaven that is coming. We can easily live like it's never coming. But if we at least consider it daily it would probably help to get life in perspective.
