Friday, March 27- Romans 4:9-12

9Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham's faith was credited to him as righteousness.
-Going back to the issue of circumcision he discusses righteousness. Guess people were stubborn to back to this issue over and over again. It was important for Paul to make sure they understood that it wasn't by the physical that someone was made righteous.
-Same with us, its imperative that we understand that its not by works that we become righteous, it is by faith.

10Under what circumstances was it credited? Was it after he was circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before!
-So here in this instance Abraham's righteousness was before the physical act.

11And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
-So the physical was a mark of the faith that he had. Works follows faith.

12And he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
-Abraham ends up being the father of both the circumcised and uncircumcised. God is the God of the Jew and Gentile. It's amazing how God has always planned to love all people. None deserve, but all are welcome. Help my faith to grow and help me to have many works in response to the faith that I have been given.
