24Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
-Jesus tells another parable. This one is to explain what the heaven is like.
-So heaven is like a man who put a good seed into his field. We have to ask why is heaven like this? We shall see in a moment.
25But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
-Hmm interesting turn of events. There must have been some bitter farmers back in the day.
-Last time the seed's represented the gospel. This time it could mean the same thing if the bad seed means false gospels.
26When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
-The good and bad are mixed together. The good teaching is mixed with the bad.
27"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'
-"What happened?", the servants ask. When people teach a good gospel, we have to realize that the enemy is also teaching a false gospel. This will cause much confusion and heartache when they have come to maturity.
28" 'An enemy did this,' he replied. "The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
-The enemy is the one who makes it bad.
-Whats the solution to the problem? The servants suggest just taking up the weeds.
29" 'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them.
-The wise owner realizes that by pulling up the bad weeds the good wheat will be damaged. How or why the good would be damaged with the bad is a bit curious.
30Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.' "
-This imagery now talks about the end times and putting people into heaven. The good and the bad will be recognized for what they are. This will be clear in the end.
-An interesting picture of the kingdom of heaven.
-Referring to the previous parable this would make it very easy for the weeds to choke out the good plants. We need to protect each other.
