Saturday, March 21- Romans 2:25-29

25Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.
-Circumcision was such a huge issue back then. I suppose it was important to them because it represented a covenant, but it's kind of weird if you think about it.
-This statement is a tough thing because who doesn't break the law?

26If those who are not circumcised keep the law's requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised?
-Circumcision is just a representation of those that follow the law.

27The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.
-So the physical is nice, but what really matters is the heart and actions of the person. Doing something physically to yourself might earn merit because of obedience, but aside from that its really the heart that counts.

28A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.
-Same idea repeated. Don't bank your faith on outward signs or actions.

29No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.
-This is insight into God desires those who worship in spirit and truth. How we dress, how we look, etc...those are all nice, but when it comes to true worship its the heart that matters. We get caught up in legalism so much that we forget the heart. We need to be Christians inwardly before anything else. This is what matters.
