Genesis 16:7-16

In this passage Hagar is out in the wilderness. She meets up with an angel. She is told to go back and submit to Sarai even though she's being mean to her. The angel explains how her offspring will grow into a multitude, but it'll be a rough person. It seems she sees this as a good thing because she was watched over. This son was Ishmael. It's kind of a strange scenario going on here. This woman isn't quite blessed but watched over by God. Abram's mistake in bearing a child with Hagar will be amplified throughout the generations. Abram knows little of all that his mistake will bear on the jewish people. I guess sin can be like blessing in this way. In some ways the things you do can bring blessing in the future that we may never know. In the same way unfaithfulness can also be a seed that bears much bad fruit. It's tough to hold onto faithfulness, but it's worth doing. Even the small things can have great consequences.
