Matthew 5:27-30

In this passage Jesus gets to the heart of the matter concerning adultery. He says if you look lustfully at a woman you've already committed adultery in your heart. we must guard our hearts concerning such matters. It's not good enough just to do it if our hearts have already mediated it. the Bible is clear that we should guard our hearts not just our actions. the heart accounts for many things. Just like before in corinthians where it talks about food sacrificed to idols being sinful if your weak to that. Jesus is very extreme in his prescription for dealing with sin. its not literal, but very honest in the seriousness that we should take in guarding ourselves. I think he used these extreme examples so that it would open the listeners eyes and kind of stun them. This is serious business. We should take it that seriously.
