Tuesday, May 19-Romans 11:1-6

1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
-All of what Paul was saying wasn't to say that the Jews were rejected people. The Jews rejected Jesus. But he still offers himself to those who choose him. Just like Paul. The same with people today. God doesn't reject them, but people reject him.

2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel:
-Paul poses foreknowledge as a solution to the reject problem. He offers an example from the past.

3"Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me"?
-In this case Elijah was worried about all of God's people getting wiped out kinda.

4And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."
-God knows that there are many that have been chosen that follow him.

5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
-So I guess what Paul is trying to say is it isn't rejection, its by grace that people are chosen.

6And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
-It's not by what we do, but its by what God does. And what God does is his grace.
-What an amazing grace that we receive when we should perish. God we really don't deserve, but thank you.
