Sunday, May 10- Romans 9:30-33

30What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;
-It's kind of the strange question of the day for the Jews. But the answer is a strange reality that they have to accept. These Gentiles which they have looked down upon for so long have found a place where they can receive righteousness as well. This righteousness is by faith. We have to remember this. That its not by what we did, our position, who we are, but by faith that we can be made right before God.

31but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.
-Israel fell into the trap of believe that they could make righteousness from what they could do. Their hands were to weak to produce it.

32Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone."
-It's a common thing to get tripped up by. Faith not works. Believing in Christ is what gets us there, nothing else.

33As it is written:
"See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
-It's hard for men to look over themselves. We're so prideful, so dependent on ourselves. We love the work of our hands that it's easy for us to miss Christs work for us. It's so simple, but we make it so difficult sometimes. Believe, have faith in the work of Christ, and live.
