-There are some days where God just is, then there are some days where God is absolutely amazing, and then there are some days when its hard to put two and two together. Today is one of those days. Which one? All of them.
46While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
-Seems like a normal everyday kind of situation. Who knows what might have been so important that they might call Jesus out of the crowd.
47Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."
-Someone told him about this as would be normal to do.
48He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"
-This is where Jesus does the thing that he often does. Says something confusing or a bit odd.
-Jesus takes this occasion to bring to question who is his real family.
49Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.
-He points out that his disciples, his followers, are his family.
-He's not disowning his blood family, as is obvious with later events in his life. He loves his mother very much and his brothers come to follow him diligently.
50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."
-This is what qualifies someone to be part of his heavenly family. Whoever is a very all inclusive word that allows anyone to become part of his family.
-So this becomes a lesson in how to become close with God, in priorities, and in our relationship with him.
-It's unbelievable that we get to be called family.
