Sunday, Feb 15-Matthew 11:20-24

20Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.
-Scary.
-Kinda goes along the lines of to much that have been given, much will be expected.
-Kinda makes me wonder about the more charismatic churches. Those who don't repent in those will probably be judged more harshly.

21"Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
-This is quite the rebuke. "woe to you" is quite the misfortune for these cities.

22But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
-wonder what the day of judgment will be like for these cities. I wonder also what relief from some judgment will be like for people on the bad side of the coin.

23And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.
-Sodom was a truly wicked city. Capernaum is being judged so much more harshly because of their unbelief. Even more so than an disgustingly immoral city.
-When people hear the word of God, if they are blessed with a special revelation they better respond or they'll be in trouble.

24But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."
-It's mind numbing to think about how harsh it will be for these cities. Hopefully we learn from this and live likewise.
