-Oh, the other day we also watched Fireproof. It had some terrible acting, but the main point of the movie was very clear and was very heart-warming. There aren't to many movies that stand up that strongly for marriage. It's nice to see a marriage on the brink of destruction pull itself back together. Guess people would never think that a situation like that would arise for their own marriages, but for some reason I have a feeling that it happens more than we think.
17If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,
-us gentiles are the wild olive shoots. we don't belong as much as the jews, but we've been stuck in there. What a blessing it is.
18do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.
-We're just lucky to be where we're at.
19You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."
-the branches weren't taken out because we were better, but just because of the original branches rebellion.
20Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
-We should have no reason to be prideful, but we should be humble and thankful for the position that we are currently in.
21For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
-Yup we should be humble. We are special and God does love us very much, but we should be humble in the position we're in and not take glory over others because of it.
