i was taking a shower and wondering what life would be like if the apostle paul was a gangster. and after thinking about it some i guess he kinda was. before he was a christian he was kinda a hit man. oh well. in this passage there's more about tongues and orderly worship. paul devotes so much time to describing how things should be done. he doesn't do this for his health, but for the health of the church. this is stuff that should be paid attention to by those churches that practice these gifts regularly. it kind of shocks me how plain it is here, but how ignored it is in so many churches. God is a God of order. thats something to think about when we judge the manifestation of gifts. if it's unorderly than it probably isn't from God.
about women in the church. some people say women were to be silent because they would disrupt the service. women back in that day weren't as educated as they are now. if we return to the big picture of the passage the main idea is orderly worship. so it would make sense that women remaining silent was in regard to orderly worship. crazy times this must've been.
