1 Corinthians 12:1-11
in this passage paul wants to inform the people about spiritual gifts. He first gives them instruction on how to identify the spirits. He then begins instruction on the gift giver. there are many gifts but only one God who gives them. this is important because God has unity in his purpose of the gifts. gifts aren't angel by angel but by God. the purpose of the gifts is common good. they aren't for the individual per say but for the group to benefit. they aren't meant to be used selfishly but for everyone. the spirit gives gifts to different people. not everyone will have the same gifts. God determines who gets them, not man. man can't teach someone a gift unless God determines that that person should have that gift. man can teach about a gift, but not give someone else it. What we can learn from this is that there is unity in purpose of gifts and God is the giver.
