1 Corinthians 14:18-26

things we can learn about tongues are that paul was very proud that he was blessed with this gift. any gift from God we should be very thankful for. another thing we can learn though is that at church it's better to speak words that make sense than a million in some jibberish. this makes it seem like we practice it incorrectly. even verses later illustrate by example why you wouldn't want to speak in tongues if there is no sense made from it. we should be cautious to practice this gift as the Bible teaches us. otherwise i'm not sure what the motivation behind it is. pride? or just bad modeling from older christians? whatever the case or whatever you believe about tongues, paul is very clear in how it is to be applied at church.
