12Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
-Jesus taking care of business. He has a zeal to keep the church pure that we should also have.
-Jesus probably puts the same energy in wanting our hearts to be clean.
-There is a purpose for the temple, and there is stuff it should never be.
13"It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'"
-What the temple should be is a place of prayer. A place to communicate with God.
-What type of attitude do we have when we are asked to pray at church?
-It should never be a den of robbers. robbers=taking something that is not yours to be your own.
-Do we go to church and take things tangible/intangible and unrightfully make it our own?
14The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
-The temple was a place of healing/compassion/charity as well as prayer.
15But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.
-Priests have a right to be irritated if they believe that the children's shouts were heresy.
-Temple is a place where people praise Jesus.
16"Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, " 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?"
-Priests basically ask him how can you accept what these children are saying about you? Are you claiming that you are God?
-Jesus answers basically yes I am.
17And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
