Hebrews 2:10-18
Jesus was like us. He became like us so that he could suffer like us and offer us salvation. Because he was like us he isn't ashamed to be family with us. That's kind of a neat way to look at it. God was one of us. We have no reason to fear death. The fear of death enslaved us. Christ frees us from that slavery. We can live in him...because of him. Since Jesus suffered he can help us who are being tempted. He's not just high and mighty, but he's low and understands us. It's kind of like a billionaire who could never understand a beggar. But the billionaire gave up everything to be like the beggar. Now he understands in a way he might not be able to. God could know all things anyways, but probably for our sake he does this so we can be confident that he knows.
