9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
-simple statement. what is love without sincerity? it's not really love at all. its just an act at that point.
-Hate evil, cling to good...is this advice on how to keep love sincere? or is it saying that insincere love is evil?
10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
-some simple commands to complement the simple statement. This is what we are to do. Devoting is a very active word. this isn't something we should be lacking in or lazy about. love love love.
-Humility in how we treat others. that is also important in sincere love. to really do it out of love is this way. Not just thinking about our own convenience or needs.
11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
-Loving is serving and honoring God. zeal and fervor are such an alive words. again, very active in our pursuit of doing them. These are things we should never not be doing.
12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
-hope is something that we wish for. Although it could be easy to be discouraged in hoping for something. We should be joyful for our hope is in a good thing.
-suffering produces many good things. sometimes patience is the best solution for it.
-faithful ongoing prayer. knowing that the God we pray to is trustworthy of our hope and patience. This we can never stop doing. God answers we must believe this and know it
13Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
-more clues to sincere love. share for all the reasons above. love people. its inconvenient and difficult at times, but this is what sincere love is. not just thinking about ourselves, but others needs as well.
