Thursday, July 11- Romans 12:17-21

17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
-two negatives don't make a positive. guess that statement is as true as it'll ever be. revenge doesn't get anyone anywhere but to more people wanting revenge. It's like in all the shows or movies where someone wants to get revenge and it ruins who they are and once they get it it's not even that great. It's just an empty promise that leaves u empty. Justice for evil is very different than evil for evil.

18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
-This is a much more fruitful way to live. Although revenge may "feel" good, peace is good. Not everyone you get into life with will be able to live peaceably, but thats the other persons loss and lack of maturity.

19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"says the Lord.
-One thing we can be sure of is that God will judge rightfully. We don't even have to really worry about making sure justice happens. Hopefully we can understand God's mercy towards us enough to want to forgive and not hope that God destroys them, but both have their place i suppose.

20On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
-God will take care of the avenging as he see's his children getting beat on. Our job is to show mercy and love in an amazing way. It would be much better to see our enemies repent and become our friends than to see them just get smashed by God.
