chapter 4
-The thing i liked most in this chapter was where he talked about repentance. the view of man being a rebel who must lay down his arms is forgotten sometimes. We really are not just creatures who are imperfect and need improvement, but we need repentance.
-The other thing i really liked was his example of the teacher forming letters for the child and that's how the child learns. we are very much like that and must learn from christ's teachings. Like another preacher I heard once say, Christ not only died the perfect death for us, he lived the perfect life and all of this is imputed on us when we accept him as savior. That is amazing grace.
chapter 5
-one point in this chapter that was good was the difference between an unbeliever and believer doing good. The believer should understand that we don't do good so that God will accept us, but we do good because because God already loves us. This is important to remember so that we're not trying to mistakenly earn God's favor.
-Another thing Lewis mentions is that the christ likeness that we have means that he is totally operating inside of us. Not just that he's an influence of some sort. We need to recognize who the head of our body really is and respond likewise to it.
-Finally the last point of interest to me was talking about how God is waiting to give us an opportunity to respond to him. He could just march in and end it all, but he doesn't and that's more merciful than we know.
