Monday, January 19- Matthew 7:7-12

7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
-When I look at this verse I think that it's one of those super common verses that you see all the time. I'd imagine this is first talking about salvation because it is one of the greatest gifts we could ask for. The process is simple, yet people still avoid it for some reason.

8 For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock, the door will be opened.
-Very inclusive in who receives this gift. But the person has to be active in his own role to receive it. The person who receives is the one who is needy. The person who seeks is the one who is looking. The person who knocks is the one who wants to go in. Do I fill these three categories?
-It's such a simple formula. You'd wish that other things in life could be this simple.

9 "Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
-This stuff just doesn't happen.

11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
-Even evil know how to give good gifts. So comparing that with God we can really look forward to his gifts.

12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
-So many laws to say this. If we could just live by this we'd be in really good shape.
-Sometimes it's the simplest things that get overlooked. These simplicities if overlooked lead to a lot of heartache and struggle. Living by this one sentence can make life so much easier.
