W,Nov 26 - Matthew 20:17-19

17Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them,
-Jesus keeps the twelve closer than anyone else. He shares what he knows will be his suffering with them.
+We should find people close to share our suffering and joys with.

18
"We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death
-This is bad news. Parallel passage in Luke 18 says the meaning of this was hidden from the disciples. The content of what Jesus was saying was very clear. There was no doubt about it. It probably just led to confusion or doubt about what he was saying to them. It's a very extreme prophecy that would be hard to believe. Jesus mentions that the prophets prophesied about this in the past, so it wasn't just Jesus prophecy.
-Jesus knows that his path of obedience requires suffering. Our path will be the same and we need to realize this.

19
and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!"
-Jesus' suffering doesn't end in death, but in life.
-Although suffering was part of the plan, life is at the end of the plan.
